North Yorkshire Fire Crews Tackle Blaze

On Monday 7th November at around 17:57 GMT the fire and rescue service were called to Chariswood Farm Barn, near Ripon after a huge hay fire started where over 5000 staw bales caught fire. The fire service said large amounts of water were being pumped from a lake at the Lightwater Valley Theme Park.

About 1,000 cattle, which were in the adjacent animal shed, have been moved to safety and are thought to be unhurt. It is not yet known what caused the fire.
