Man Pleads Guilty After Causing Criminal Damage at Drayton Manor
Around ÂŁ1000 worth of damage was caused to the gates at Drayton Manor theme park after a Tamworth man became “trapped” within the site.
Terry Weeks appeared at Burton Magistrates court on Monday 22nd October 2012 and pleaded guilty to causing damage to property under ÂŁ5000.
Prosecution solicitor Dave Bell read out a statement Weeks gave to police:
“I (Weeks) became lost,” said Mr Bell.
“It was not my intention to cause damage, I accept it was reckless, I only wanted to leave Drayton Manor.”
The damage caused to the security gates, which belonged to the managing director of Drayton Manor Theme Park, Colin Bryan, was valued at ÂŁ1,000.
In mitigation, Weeks’ solicitor John McGregor
said: “I am not overly familiar with the site but I believe it is a bit of a maze.”
He added that his client had recently been made redundant.
Weeks was fined ÂŁ110 and was ordered to pay ÂŁ1,000 compensation and ÂŁ105 costs.
