Lightwater Bird of Prey Closure
Rather sadly, Lightwater Valley have confirmed that the Bird of Prey centre situated next to the park entrance is has closed its doors today for the last time. Previously open all year round since 2003, the owners (different owners to the park) were quoted to say the attraction was “no longer viable to keep going”.
The attraction was home to over 60 birds, and was also home to Britain’s Largest Golden Eagle.
The centre was most certainly a vital source of income for the park from its site rental, and associated theme park ticket sales. Rumours currently state that the centre’s daily flying shows will be relocated to somewhere within the theme park, however this is yet to be confirmed officially.
It’s always sad to see a UK attraction close, and Lightwater’s Bird of Prey Centre is the latest place to see the hit of the global recession, soon after Loudoun Castle in Scotland.

Very sad news indeed.
