Grand Pier to add ‘Surf’s Up’ in 2011

Owners of the Grand Pier at Weston-Super-Mare have decided to install a Zamperla ‘Surf’s Up’.

The ride, produced by Zamperla, is similar to their Disk-O rides, however riders are to stand rather than sit.Infrastructure has already been put in place, at a cost of £100,000 which will allow the ride to be built on the pier walkway.

Ms Michael, one of the pier owners, said: “The infrastructure is already in place so it will be a case of getting it manufactured and installed.

“We have been exchanging emails with the manufacturers on time- scales so I don’t have an exact date yet, but we do have plans to install Surf’s Up next year.

“We will also be attending an expo in London, a huge machine exhibition over two to three days in January, where all the manufacturers showcase their new releases.

“We will be there to have a look around and place orders for new attractions for the summer season.”
