Drayton Manor Hotel Revels in First Year Success

Drayton Manor Theme Park’s hotel is celebrating the sweet smell of success, even though its 73,294 guests managed to devour a hefty six-and-a-half tonnes of baked beans.

The four-star 150-room Drayton Manor Hotel, in Staffordshire, recently celebrated its first year anniversary by revealing that, on average, 200 people stayed there each night between its opening on 15th August 2011 and 14th August 2012.

But these numbers don’t tell the whole story. In the first 12 months, hotel guest went through 6,095 Fruit Shoots drinks, 3,185 burgers, 9,020 kids meals and over 54,000 teabags.

In June, the hotel even received the seal of approval from the Child Hotel Inspector, nine-year-old James Childs, who reviewed the hotel to give a child’s perspective on places to stay and visit.

The hotel’s general manager, Martin Wright, said: “The hotel’s success has helped Drayton Manor Theme Park firmly established itself as a popular UK leisure resort, which means it can cater for the short break sector, as well as the day trip market.

“The hotel’s first year has been a fantastic success. We have been able to attract guests from all over the UK and parts of Europe, such as Norway and Sweden. Some guests have even come from Australia and Japan.

“There are several reasons for the hotel’s popularity. We offer a variety rooms, such as standard, family, interconnecting and executive rooms, as well as three presidential rooms. There’s also the unique appeal of the 15 Thomas & Friends™ themed family rooms, which complement the park’s Thomas Land™ attraction. Each of these rooms has themed bunk beds, with fittedDVD player, as well as unique hand-painted scenes on the walls and ceilings depicting a different character from the Thomas & Friends series.

“In addition, we offer very competitive prices compared to other hotels of a similar standard, such as Stay and Play packages for families, which includes a night at the hotel, breakfast and theme park tickets, all from just £126.”
