Chessington introduce Umbrella Hats!

In a latest Press Release from Chessington World of Adventures, Zookepers have introduced Umbrella hats, to prevent visitors from being covered in Lorikeet Poo.

Though it can be seen as good luck, most visitors at Chessington World of Adventures don’t enjoy the thought of being pooed on in the new attraction, Lorikeet Lagoon.

The attraction is a walk through Bird Sanctuary, located in the new area, ‘Wild Asia’, which is a re-themed BeanoLand. Many species of birds live in the enclosure, though Lorikeets are the main attraction, and have been leaving their mess on visitors since the attraction opened.

Charlie Compton, Head of Birds at Chessington commented; “The 65 brightly plumed parrots in our Lorikeet Lagoon are popular with visitors who can feed the birds from small pots of nectar. Feeding the birds inevitably means there will be bird poo and the number of ‘lucky’ people with lorikeet poo on their heads meant we had to take action. The umbrella hats are the perfect solution and guests are free to borrow them when walking through the aviary.”
