Boy Falls from Ride at Camelot – Updated
It has been confirmed by Camelot Theme Park today via their official Facebook page that yesterday a boy aged 12 with special needs fell from the Excalibur 2 attraction.
The emergency services were called to the scene and the boy was taken to hospital by ambulance. His condition has since been described by Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust as ‘comfortable and stable’. Â An investigation has been launched after a boy fell from the ride – Lancashire Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have now confirmed an investigation has been launched into the incident.
‘The circumstances as to how he fell are being investigated,’ a police spokesperson said, adding that it is believed the boy, who has not been named, comes from Halifax.
Excalibur 2, which has been a feature at the theme park for the past ten years, will remain closed until Camelot completes an internal investigation and the HSE gives it the all clear to reopen.
Update as of 26th August 2011:
It has been confirmed by the park that the boy has now been discharged from Wigan Royal Infirmary. The Excalibur 2 ride will remain closed pending the outcome of the Health and Safety Executive and internal park investigation.
