Birthday Treat for Oakwood’s First 2012 Visitors
Oakwood Theme Park opened its doors for its 25th anniversary season on Saturday and there was a special âbirthdayâ treat for the first 25 people through the gates of the Pembrokeshire attraction in the shape of goody bags. The early birds also helped Park Director Andy Hygate officially open the park and then had the opportunity to be the first to ride on Megafobia â the parkâs iconic wooden rollercoaster.
âAfter all the hard work over the winter months it was great to finally re-open the park to the public at the weekend,â said Oakwoodâs Anthony Crowdie.
âWe had a bit of a dry run last weekend when we staged a Sport Relief Mile here but itâs still really exciting to see all the rides up and running and people enjoying themselves,â he added.
The theme park, which opened in 1987, has a series of special anniversary events and activities planned over the coming weeks, culminating on the actual birthday which is towards the end of May.
âWeâre extending late night openings in the summer due to their popularity and we plan to add amazing fireworksâ finales on selected dates.
âFollowing the success of last yearâs Wild West themed high diving show, weâve also got a brand new pirate-themed spectacular for 2012,â said Anthony.
âA team of fearless buccaneers and privateers will once again perform incredible high altitude stunts as part of a special Pirate-themed outdoor spectacular as they plunge from a 25 metre board into less than three metres of water,â he added.
UK Park News is planning to visit Oakwood Theme Park later in the year to bring you a full theme park review. More details in a couple of months.
